Jordan Ayew Named Premier League Best Dribbler Of The Year 2023

The Ghanaian attacker who plays his club football at Crystal palace has been a dynamic and a ball playing striker for his team and was on fine form in 2023. With eighty-four dribbles completed, the attacker for Crystal Palace topped the chart, capping an incredible year.

Ayew has had a fantastic season at the South London club as well, tallying five assists and two Premier League goals in 19 games. Before departing for Ghana in advance of the Africa Cup of Nations, the former Swansea City forward had a standout performance in Crystal Palace’s victory over Brentford on Sunday.

“Winning was vital. My final game before heading to the Africa Cup of Nations is today. After the game, Ayew commented, “I wanted to go with a win.”

Mohamed Salah topped the assist table with 15, but Erling Haaland concluded the year with the most goals 29 in his possession. Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United created the most chances 133, while Bernard Leno of Fulham made the most saves.

Jordan is the son of Ghana football legend Abedi Pele and brother of Andre Ayew who is the captain of the black stars of Ghana. He was born in France, Marseille. He started his football career at Lyon Duchers and later joined the Marseille academy.

He debuted for the Ghana national team in 2010 and has 90 appearances for the Black Stars. He has featured in two world Cups, 2014 and 2022, he has also played in five African Cup of Nations tournament 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021.

Ayew signed a three year professional contract with Marseille in 2009. He made his debut against Lorient in the French League 1 and scored on 16 December, 2009. He continued to score his second goal against Nice at the Stade Velodrome where his brother Andre Ayew scored a hat trick in that same match.

He played his first UEFA Champions League match on 1 November 2011 against Arsenal which ended in a draw.

He joined Sohaux on loan on 6 January 2014 and played for one season. He then joined Lorient on 28 July 2014 signing a four year deal with the French club.

He joined Premier League club Aston Villa in July 2015 with a reported transfer fee of 8 million euros. He scored his first goal for Aston Villa against his brother’s team Swansea City. Unfortunately, they were relegated but Jordan was the teams top scorer for the 2015-2016 season.

In 2017, Swansea signed him in exchange for Neil Taylor. He scored his debut goal against West Bromwich Albion which was an equalizer that led to an astonishing 2-1 comeback to win the game and earned all three points.

At the end of his second season, he was the clubs top scorer for the season with 7 goals and also voted players player of the season. Swansea City was relegated to the championship that season, which made it the fourth time his club has been relegated after finishing the season as a top scorer.

He joined his current club Crystal Palace on deadline day in August 2018 on loan. He scored his first league goal for the club against Wolverhampton Wanderers in a 2 nil win. On 25 July 2019, his move was made permanent with a £2.5m transfer fee from Swansea City. He scored the opener in a historic win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Ayew signed a contract extension till 2023 in June 2022 and further extended it to 2025. Ayew was named Crystal Palace player of the year in the 2019-2020 season. He was also named Ghana’s Player of the Year in 2020. He has been called up to the black stars for the upcoming CAF African Cup of Nations. Ghanaian are hoping the black stars bring back the trophy home after forty years.
