Todd Cantwell ‘cooking’ as former Rangers man gives Blackburn fans a glimpse of what he has to offer, Details

The former Rangers man is working hard behind the scenes as he gets ready to begin life at Ewood Park.

Todd Cantwell has kicked off a new chapter at Blackburn Rovers – and fans will be desperate for a repeat of the incredible training ground goal he shared online.

The former Rangers man made the move to Ewood Park on deadline day with Philippe Clement cashing in on the midfielder. He was out of the picture under the Belgian this season after handing in a transfer request and he got his wish to leave Scotland with a move back to England in the Championship. His new boss John Eustace insisted he was the top target for Rovers and has tipped him to tear it up in his new environment as he bids to help his new side return to the riches of the English Premier League.

The 26-year-old is getting down to hard work behind the scenes on the grass and he took to Instagram to give his new fan base a glimpse of what he can offer as he pulled off an outrageous spinning backheel volley goal from a cross as part of a training drill. He didn’t post any words but simply used a ‘cook’ emoji. His debut could come next Saturday as Blackburn face Bristol City. They’ve picked up eight points from the first four games and remain unbeaten in the play-off spots at this early stage.

Speaking to Sky Sports previously about his decision to leave Rangers for a new challenge, he said: “There was change around the club and obviously with the manager going the backroom staff went with him. It felt like a different place. When a new manager comes in he has to put his stamp on things and I think we had a bounce where we got in a really good position to go on and do well.

“I’ve got full respect for the manager but I didn’t believe it was the right place for me and they are personal reasons for me. You don’t have to look far behind tactics and the way a team plays and how you get the best version of yourself.

“I think at 26 if you don’t know what type of changing room you should be in you’ll bounce around a lot. So I made a decision, it’s a bold decision and let’s see how it unfolds.”
