Swindon Town boss Mark Kennedy has said they could look to loan out Nnamdi Ofoborh. Swindon Town may fix up a temporary exit for the midfielder as they look for him to get some more game time. He is under contract at the County Ground until June 2025.
If Ofoborh, 24, were to leave Wiltshire, he could only sign with a team in the National League or lower. Since the transfer window closed last Friday, he will not be able to join with a team in the Football League until January.
In this latest update regarding his situation, former Lincoln City manager Kennedy said, as per a report by the Swindon Advertiser: “Nnamdi is a valued member of the squad but if Nnamdi felt that the best course of action to get minutes was to go somewhere else then we would facilitate and support him in that. If Nnamdi says ‘I want to stay here and really fight for my place’ then we would have him in open arms because he is a very good player.
“If somebody is injured then he is straight in, he started multiple games for us already. But I think going forward, if I was to be stern in my thoughts then I would look at the options of where he is going to get the most football.”
Swindon Town loan exit on the cards
Swindon Town signed Ofoborh back in March on a short-term deal before his stay was extended by 12 months earlier this summer.
He has since made 11 appearances for the League Two side in all competitions and has scored once.
The former Nigeria youth international provides competition and depth to their options in the middle of the park.
However, his chances of regular game time are slim at the moment, hence why his current club may try and send him somewhere to get first-team football.
Ofoborh was on the books at Millwall as a youngster before linking up with AFC Bournemouth.
He rose up through the Cherries’ ranks and went on to play five times for their senior team, as well as having a couple of loans at Wycombe Wanderers.
The London-born man moved up to Scotland in 2021 to join Rangers but didn’t make a competitive appearance for the Glagow giants.
What now for Swindon Town?
Time will tell whether there are any takers for Ofoborh. A move down a league would be ideal for him over the coming weeks.
In the meantime, Swindon Town are back in action this weekend with an away trip to Barrow. They haven’t won just in their opening four games and were beaten 2-1 at home by Notts County last time out in the league.
