Talented fullback Liam Ison has officially re-signed with the Cronulla Sharks.
The 19-year-old, who turns 20 next month, had already signed a contract until 2025 but has since extended it for another two years, meaning he will remain with the Shire until at least the end of 2027.
After leaving the Penrith Panthers to join the Sharks, Ison—who is regarded as one of the best young players in the sport—had a breakthrough season in the lower divisions this year, moving up from the Jersey Flegg to the NSW Cup and finally to the NRL.
In Round 21 against the North Queensland Cowboys, the young player earned his NRL debut at fullback in lieu of the suspended Will Kennedy, and he performed admirably at the highest level.
Over the next three seasons, he will likely add to his one NRL game and try to get Kennedy to wear his shirt.
“It’s unbelievable. “I’m ecstatic about my new contract,” Ison stated.
