Woman, 74, dies following collision with HGV

On Monday, at approximately 11.45 a.m., police were called to complaints of a collision on the A534 Haslington Bypass.

Officers arrived at the site and discovered that a white HGV tractor unit had collided with a silver Vauxhall Crossland near Wheelock Farm.

The car’s driver, a 74-year-old woman from Sandbach, suffered significant injuries as a result of the crash and was rushed to the hospital.

Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of everyone concerned, she has since died. Her next of kin is aware, and they are being assisted by expert officers.

Detective sergeant Simon Degg of the serious collision investigation unit stated, “Enquiries into this collision are ongoing, and we are committed to doing everything we can to determine what happened.”

“The A534 is a very busy road, and as part of our investigation, we’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened.”

“The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage which may aid our investigation.”
