Blackburn Rovers have confirmed that Dom Hyam’s contract option has been triggered, keeping him at the club until 2026.

Last month, The Lancashire Telegraph reported the 29-year-old would be staying at the club after Rovers decided to extend his deal. His deal ran until 2025 but the club retained a one-year option.

This follows the news that Yuri Ribeiro has signed a deal until 2027, with an option. Ryan Hedges’ terms also run until 2025 but the club can extend his deal by 12 months too.

It means Tyrhys Dolan, Andi Weimann, Danny Batth and Adam Forshaw are the only four that have to enter fresh negotiations or they will leave the club in the summer.

An official update read: “Rovers are pleased to announce that defender Dom Hyam will remain contracted to the club beyond this season.

“A clause in his contract, which he signed when he joined the club from Coventry City in August 2022, has now been activated, keeping him at Ewood Park until June 2026.

“Over the past three seasons, Hyam has made 124 appearances in Rovers colours, scoring three goals, and was crowned the club’s Player of the Year in his first season at Ewood Park.

“He has played every minute of every Championship fixture for Rovers this season and scored the winning goal in the reverse fixture against tonight’s opponents Middlesbrough when the two teams met at the Riverside back in November.”
