The 33-year-old signed a contract for a period of one year.
Malone, who is also capable of playing in midfield, came through the Wolverhampton Wanderers junior system and started his career there, paving the way for a lengthy and successful career in the English Football League.

Scott made his EFL debut in 2009 when he signed a loan deal with Southend United from Wolves. He later had loan stints at Burton and Bournemouth. Malone has made over 500 appearances in his career, more than 300 of them have been in the Championship.

He agreed to join Millwall in May 2012 after spending a season at Dean Court playing for former Crawley assistant manager Lee Bradbury after joining Bournemouth on a permanent basis in July 2011.

In August 2012, Malone made his Millwall debut against the Red Devils in a Capital One Cup match that Crawley ultimately prevailed on penalties.

He played on loan at The Den for a while before returning a year later, initially for a summer stint, after stints with Huddersfield, Fulham, and Derby.

Malone made 48 appearances for the Kent-based team after joining the Gills at the beginning of the 2023–24 season.

Malone stated, “I am thrilled to be here and I am really excited about the opportunity to play for Crawley. It has been a dream of mine to play for this club for a few years now. My wife is from Broadfield, so I got married here ten years ago. I am also happy that I got the deal done so early. The boys are returning early next week, so I can’t wait to get back in and meet everyone.”
