Norwich City have completed the signing of talented midfielder deal done.

The 21-year-old has joined the Canaries for a fee understood to be just below £4m plus add-ons and performance bonuses. Forson has signed a four-year deal with an option of an additional year at Carrow Road and could be involved in tomorrow’s Championship opener against Oxford United. Forson is the Canaries’ fourth summer signing following Jose Cordoba, Ben Chrisene and Callum Doyle into the building. The midfielder will wear number 18.

Speaking at the announcement of his transfer, he told club channels: “I’m really happy and excited to come to the club. “The head coach has worked before with so many young players, it’s really nice to be here working with him.” Sporting director Ben Knapper added: “Forson is a talented and very well-rounded player, who will add quality and versatility to our squad.

He has advanced via an excellent player development program and brings with him senior international experience with Ghana in addition to Champions League experience.

We think he’s a perfect fit for us, and I have no doubt that we can grow him further and do amazing things in tandem.

Norwich moved quickly to sign long-term goal Forson by using some of the money that they received from Galatasaray for Gabriel Sara, and they anticipate making more acquisitions before the transfer season closes this month.

After Salzburg let him to leave the team, City are thought to have defeated a number of teams to recruit him this month, including the former team of Johannes Hoff Thorup, Nordsjaelland, Anderlecht, Freiburg, Augsburg, and Stuttgart.

The 21-year-old started his career with the Ghanian team WAFA. He made his professional debut in 2019 and moved to Austria in 2021 after WAFA participated in the Next Generation Trophy at the Red Bull Football Academy. Salzburg signed him after he impressed them enough.

The German football icon Miroslav Klose managed FC Liefering and Rheindorf Altach during their loan periods. Due to his great performances while on loan, Salzburg was able to reintegrate him into the team.

In the previous season, Forson made 23 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga and contributed four goals. In the Champions League, he participated four times, starting twice each against Inter and Real Sociedad.

The midfielder played a total of 88 minutes in his two international debuts for Ghana in March against Uganda and Nigeria.
