Mason Greenwood Named Getafe Player Of The Month Of December

Getafe’s December Player of the Month is Mason Greenwood, who has put on four outstanding displays for the Spanish team.

With a majority of the votes, Greenwood defeated his four fellow colleagues to win.

The Manchester United loanee shone in every game for Getafe last month, setting a record and providing an assist in the thrilling victory over Sevilla.

Other than being a part of a contentious farewell, Greenwood has had an incredible run at Getafe.

Greenwood’s five goals and four assists earn him Player of the Month for the first time since he signed a loan with Getafe.

On 30 January,2022 Greenwood’s girlfriend accused him abuse and assault she further posted videos and messages online . The messages featured what appeared to be photos and videos of injuries in addition to audio in which a lady called Mason tells a male, “I don’t want to have sex,” to which he responds, “I don’t give a fuck what you want… You twat, I’m about to fuck you. If you want to have sex with me, that’s fine with me. What else do you want me to do after I asked you nicely and you refused to comply? Afterwards, the man says, “Push me once more and see what happens to you.”

Greenwood was then suspended by Manchester United on January 30 and taken into custody by Greater Manchester Police on charges of assaulting and raping a woman. Greenwood was detained again on February 1st on charges of making death threats and sexual assault.

By then, Greenwood had been taken out of the FIFA video games by video game manufacturer EA Sports, and sportswear company Nike had announced that it had discontinued its association with Greenwood.

Greenwood was freed on February 2nd, subject to additional investigation. A week later, Nike ceased to support Greenwood. His bail was increased to mid-June in April 2022. In August 2023, Richard Arnold, the CEO of Manchester United, stated that the “alleged victim ordered the police to drop their investigation in April 2022”.

Greenwood was taken into custody on October 15, 2022, for reportedly communicating with his accuser in violation of his bail terms. The same day, he was accused of attempting to commit rape in relation to an alleged event on October 22, 2021, of assault resulting in actual bodily harm in relation to an alleged incident in December 2021, and of using coercive and controlling behaviour beginning in November 2018.

He was originally placed under arrest on October 17, 2022, and ordered to remain in custody until November 21. However, on October 19, following a private hearing at Minshull Street Crown Court, he was released on bond with instructions to stay in Bowdon and refrain from contacting any witnesses, including the complainant.

The Crown Prosecution Service withdrawn all of their allegations against Greenwood on February 2, 2023, citing the withdrawal of important witnesses and “new material that came to light”.

United declared that “we will now work with Mason to reach that outcome” after announcing Greenwood’s departure from the team on August 21, 2023.

United states that although “the material posted online failed to offer an entire picture and that Mason was not guilty of the offences in respect of which he was actually charged” was the conclusion of the investigation, Greenwood “made mistakes which he is taking blame for” and there exist “difficulties with him continuing his career” with United.

The same day, Greenwood said in a statement that he would be leaving United: “I did not do the things I was accused of; I was raised to know that violence or abuse in any relationship is wrong

I acknowledge that I made mistakes in our relationship and accept some of the blame for the events that resulted in the social media post”, he added.

Greenwood went on loan to La Liga team Getafe on September 1, 2023, for the 2023–2024 season. On September 17, he made his league debut against Osasuna, winning 3-2.

Greenwood has been an outstanding player for Getafe since his arrival despite not playing football for a year. Even though Greenwood is doing well at Gatefe but as to whether Manchester United will keep him after his loan is still not certain.
