Man dies in Yarm after fatal crash which shutdown roads for hours

The incident occurred on Yarm Road, between the junctions of Witham Avenue and Station Road.

Following a crash, police closed a popular Eaglescliffe road.

Officers were dispatched to Yarm Road, between the junctions of Witham Avenue and Station Road, at 1 a.m. on Sunday, reporting a collision. Police had closed off the road, and photographs from the site showed cops standing alongside a flipped white automobile.

The road remained stopped for several hours while an accident investigation was conducted. A Cleveland Police official stated, “Yarm Road is currently closed between Witham Avenue and Station Road Eaglescliffe. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and take an alternate route if feasible.

Cleveland Police have released a statement indicating that a man died in the Eaglescliffe crash.

A spokesman stated:

“A 35-year-old man has died after a collision in Eaglescliffe in the early hours of today (Sunday March 3). Police were called to Yarm Road near its junction with Ashville Avenue at 12.40am where the collision had taken place. The man had sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital, but very sadly he was pronounced deceased this evening. His family has been notified and is being supported by specially trained officers. All our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time. Enquiries into the collision are ongoing and we would appeal for anyone who saw a white Mercedes AMG travelling between Yarm High Street and the location of the collision in Eaglescliffe from just before half past midnight”.
