It occurred on the A135 Yarm Road, at the intersection of Ashville Avenue in Eaglescliffe, shortly after 00:30 GMT on Sunday.
The victim, who was critically injured, was transported to James Cook University Hospital, where he died that evening.
Police are asking anyone who observed a white Mercedes AMG driving between Yarm High Street and the scene of the collision to contact them.
