A Yarm elderly was killed in a crash in Cumbria.
Officers were dispatched to the A685 near the small settlement of Grayrigg following a single-vehicle incident involving a blue Vauxhall Astra.
The incident occurred about 5.20pm and resulted in the 85-year-old driver and her 89-year-old passenger being transported to hospital.
Cumbria Police have confirmed that Ronald Simpkins, of Yarm, died after being transported to the hospital. The driver of the car has been released from the hospital.
Officers are aware of several witnesses at the scene, some of whom offered help and support to the driver and passenger. They are keen to hear from those people to help with their investigation.
