Driver dies in hospital three days after A77 crash

An 82-year-old man died three days after being involved in a two-car crash on the A77 in South Ayrshire.

The crash occurred at approximately 14:25 on Thursday (3rd October), half a mile from the Dutch House Roundabout in Monkton.

The man and an 84-year-old woman were driving a red Renault Captur when they collided with a silver Mercedes A200.

Police Scotland confirmed he died from his injuries on Sunday (6th October).

The woman remains in bad condition in the hospital.

Sgt Martin Cunningham stated, “Our sympathies are with the family and friends of the individual who died during this trying time.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing to anyone who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch if you can assist.”

He also encouraged anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
