Man killed tragically after being hit by careless driving in King’s Lynn

A pedestrian in his 70s has died after being hit by a BMW.

The man was struck by a silver BMW 530i at the intersection of St James Road and Blackfriars Street in King’s Lynn around 9.05 p.m. yesterday being Monday.

He was pronounced dead on the scene, and the driver of the BMW, a man in his twenties, was detained on suspicion of causing death through hazardous driving.

He was transported to King’s Lynn Police Station for questioning before being released pending further investigation.

Officers want to speak with a woman who may have been communicating with the victim just before the crash, in the hopes that she has information that can help with the investigation.

She was dressed in a sleeveless patterned dress, glasses, sandals, and holding a large red bag.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam evidence is requested to contact Norfolk Constabulary, referencing reference 36/57482/24.

The road was stopped as emergency personnel attended to the incident, and it was reopened at 7.30am today.
