Tuesday night, Celtic travels to the USA to play Manchester City in an attempt to give Brendan Rodgers’ team a more difficult preseason test before the Scottish Premiership officially begins.

In the friendly versus DC United on Saturday, the Bhoys triumphed handily, scoring 4-0 due to goals from Mikey Johnston, Matt O’Riley, and James Forrest.

Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish join Man City, who represent a major step up in quality in a squad that Pep Guardiola has previously acknowledged will mostly consist of Academy prospects.

Callum Doyle, a 20-year-old defender who played on loan at Leicester City last season, is among those young players hoping for a chance. Doyle is rumoured to be joining Norwich City on a similar contract this season.

But prior to that, he had the opportunity to make an impression when on their US tour, where City also played AC Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea.

Doyle claims that he is most excited to play for the Bhoys despite the other well-known teams on the schedule.

When asked which USA match he was most excited about, the young player said, “Probably Celtic,” to Man City’s official website. Since I was a small child, I have always wanted to play against Celtic.

“I think it’ll be a good game, a good test, and a good battle since I was watching the Celtic and Rangers derbies.”
