Motorcyclist killed in a fatal collision with van on Bicester busy road

A 57-year-old motorbike rider was tragically killed after colliding with a van at a roundabout in Bicester on bank holiday Monday.
Police are asking for witnesses to the accident that occurred around 9.40 a.m. on Monday.

A red motorbike collided with a black Mercedes Sprinter vehicle at the intersection of Middleton Stoney Road and Empire Road.

The motorcycle rider, a man from Bicester, sadly died of his injuries, but the driver of the van was not injured.

Police are especially interested in hearing from anyone who was in the vicinity at the time or may have seen one of the vehicles on video.

Detective Constable Naomi Hames of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said, “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area of Howes Lane, Vendee Drive and Middleton Stoney Road at or around 9.40 a.m. on Monday and saw a motorbike on or leaving Vendee Drive to contact police.”

“I’d also like to speak with the drivers of two specific cars, who were not involved but may have witnessed part of the incident. These vehicles are a dark-coloured estate, comparable to the Audi A4, and a grey SUV, similar to the Toyota Rav 4. Both of these vehicles were following a white van at the time of the incident.

“If you were a driver or passenger in either of these cars, please contact Thames Valley Police.”

“Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died, and they are being supported by specially trained Family Liaison Officers at this time.”

To contact the police, phone 101 and mention the reference number: 43240246859.
