A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following an incident that halted a section of the A5 in Leicestershire for several hours.
According to Leicestershire Police, officers were dispatched to a section of road between the B4114 and High Cross, near Wigston Parva, at around 11:15 BST on Saturday.
According to the police, a blue Volkswagen Golf GTI ran off the road and collided with a tree.
The driver, a guy in his twenties, was the only person in the car, which was driving from Hinckley to Lutterworth, police said.
Officers are now looking to witnesses and anyone with dashcam evidence to come forward as they investigate how the automobile off the road.
National Highways reported that the southbound carriageway was stopped while emergency personnel dealt with the crash.
It confirmed that the carriageway has reopened at 18:51.
