After a car and van collided on the A1 in Nottinghamshire, a man passed away.
Following the collision on Saturday at approximately 9:00 BST, the driver of the vehicle, a man in his 70s, received medical attention on the southbound lane.
He died, according to Nottinghamshire Police, from his wounds.
According to the force, the van driver was helping the officers with their questions and was not hurt.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue and the East Midlands Ambulance Service were also there.
The section of road between Blyth Services and the A57 at Worksop was closed in both directions.
Diverts were put in place by National Highways until the route reopened at roughly 18:30.
“During this trying time, our thoughts are with this man’s family and friends,” stated Sgt. Mark Baker of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
The police are requesting that witnesses contact them.
