The 21-year-old, who declined to sign a new contract at Ashton Gate, is presently training apart from the Robins first squad. Due to the player’s expiring contract, there was optimism that Rangers and/or Celtic would be able to lure him to the Scottish Premiership for a reduced fee. However, Hull City of the EFL Championship has joined Middlesbrough in the competition for the player’s signature and has extended an offer to Bristol City. BristolLive reports that the have made a bid of about £5 million, in response to Middlesbrough’s bid from the previous weekend. According to reports, Burnley, who were recently demoted, are still interested in the striker.

After learning that a major loan target was in talks with an EFL Championship club about a move, Easter Road manager David Gray may have suffered a serious blow in the transfer market. Joe Hodge, the captain of the Republic of Ireland’s under-21 team, and Wolverhampton Wanderers had been training with Hibs recently; the Leith team is rumored to be eager to sign the player. The player, who made eight appearances on loan at Queens Park Rangers last season, is reportedly also hoping to finalize a deal with EFL Championship Huddersfield Town. In preparation for the upcoming season, Hodge is seeking regular first team football, and the Express and Star report that he has already begun speaking with both sides

In recent weeks, reports surfaced that Celtic had rejected bids totaling approximately £15 million from both Atlanta and Southampton. Strong interest in the playmaker has also reportedly been expressed by Atletico Madrid, Brighton, and Chelsea. Brighton could become the front-runners for his signature after it was revealed they are willing to offer the Hoops a sum that would break the Scottish transfer record in order to land their man. It is understood that the Hoops are holding out for a fee of close to £25 million for the player of the year from the previous season. The Scottish Sun claims that the Seagulls are ready to  offer Celtic £25million plus in order to secure O’Riley’s signature.
