Brighton, Brentford, Leicester City and Southampton are interested in Birmingham City Star Player But Ipswich Town in pole position to land the player

In the summer transfer window, Ipswich Town is in the lead hunt to capture Birmingham City midfielder Jordan James.

According to a report from HITC, several clubs are reportedly interested in the 20-year-old.

James, who joined the Blues in the junior system, has already made 105 senior appearances across all competitions and is a mainstay in the first squad.

In the sixteen months after his debut against Croatia in March 2023, he has also received 11 caps for Wales at the senior international level.

But since Birmingham was demoted to League One at the end of the previous campaign, this summer’s interest in the midfielder is beginning to increase.

Ipswich Town leading Jordan James transfer race

As the last month of the transfer window draws near, Ipswich Town is presently in the lead in the hunt to recruit James, according to the most recent update.

The Tractor Boys are reportedly in the lead in the race to recruit the 20-year-old as they attempt to work out a deal with the Blues to bring in yet another elite EFL player to Portman Road, joining the likes of Jacob Greaves.

They do, however, have competition from other teams to recruit the Birmingham midfield player.

Atalanta, the Europa League champions from the previous season, are rumoured to still be interested in the Welshman despite supposedly having their January bid for James rejected.

In the meantime, HITC claims that Premier League teams including Southampton, Brighton, Brentford, and Leicester City have expressed interest in James.

James’ contract with Birmingham currently has one year left on it, although the club has the option to extend it by an additional year.

As a result, the midfielder’s future at St. Andrew’s is essentially guaranteed through the end of the 2026–2027 campaign, providing the Blues some wiggle room to negotiate any offers that are made for him.

Naturally, Ipswich is getting ready for life in the Premier League after earning a promotion from the Championship the previous year.

Omari Hutchinson, Ben Johnson, Jacob Greaves, Aro Muric, and Liam Delap are the five senior signings they have made thus far; they have all completed permanent moves to Portman Road.

In an effort to recover from their relegation to League One, Birmingham has also had a busy summer, adding eight new senior players to their roster and appointing Chris Davies as manager.

On Saturday, August 10, the Blues are set to kick off their third-tier season at St Andrew’s when they welcome Reading.

Birmingham City losing Jordan James would be a significant but expected blow

It is indisputable that Birmingham would suffer a loss if James were to be sold this summer.

The midfielder was a star player for the team at one point, even though they were relegated from the Championship the previous season.

As a result, they would be losing a valuable player early in his career, when he still has a lot of potential to develop and become even more valuable.

Because of this, it is difficult to avoid thinking that people who are associated with the club may find James’ departure difficult to accept.
