A 27-year-old male has been taken into custody on suspicion of driving violations. He and two other people, ages 33 and 39, ran from the area and were later located.
Two police officers who were on duty were taken to the hospital by paramedics; one of the cops, 48, was reportedly fighting for his life. Medical personnel said that two further men, aged 39 and 43, who were members of the public, were in a critical condition. A 38-year-old police officer and a 33-year-old male were critically injured.
Both the individual who was apprehended in connection with the incident and the 27-year-old himself received minor medical attention.
While investigations are conducted, the eastbound lane has been closed, and a Police Scotland representative stated that enquiries are still ongoing.
