Yeovil man killed in a catastrophic fatal crash, police appeal for witnesses

A guy in his 20s died after sustaining significant injuries in a two-vehicle crash on the A30 in Somerset.

A guy died after being seriously injured in an accident on the A30. The man, in his twenties, was taken to the hospital after the incident but died from his injuries.

On Tuesday, police received reports of an accident near Sherborne. On Tuesday around 4.08pm, a collision occurred on the A30 at Babylon Hill, near the intersection with Marl Lane.

The driver of the Mini was transported to Bristol’s Southmead Hospital by air ambulance. His family has been informed, and they are being assisted by specially trained officers.

Sergeant Geraint Butler of the serious collision investigation team stated, “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the young man who tragically died, and officers are doing everything they can to support the family at this extremely difficult time.”

“We owe it to them to do a thorough investigation to determine the exact facts of this collision, and I would again encourage any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam evidence of the incident to come forward.

“Based on our first investigations, we believe there were at least two vehicles in the area whose occupants are likely to have witnessed what happened but have yet to be located. We would want to urge these persons to contact us.

“We also understand an off-duty nurse stopped to give assistance at the scene and we would be keen to speak to this individual and take their account.

“Furthermore, I would urge anyone travelling in either direction on the A30 between Yeovil and Sherborne around this time of the collision to please review any dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance, including the movements of the vehicles involved prior to the collision.”

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dashcam footage to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55240026506 .
