Woman dies in horrifying house fire incident

The 15-year-old daughter of Sadia Shafiq is still in serious condition.

Mother of three Sadia Shafiq has been described as a ‘kind and kind’ individual who perished in a tragic house fire in Oldham.

On Saturday, June 14, at approximately 4:10 p.m., a terraced house on Saint Thomas Street North had a fire. When the house started to burn, emergency personnel including firefighters, police, and paramedics raced to the scene.

Tragically, 42-year-old Ms. Shafiq passed away there. Her daughter, who is fifteen years old, was taken to the hospital and is still there as of right now, according to the police.

An inquiry into Ms. Shafiq’s passing will begin at Greater Manchester North Coroners’ Court at a later time.

In a statement issued by Greater Manchester Police, her family paid tribute to her and said, “We as a family have been devastated by the loss of Sadia and our hearts are broken.”

“She was a cherished friend, sister, and mother to many. We shall all miss her terribly because she was kind and the joy of our lives.

“Although we will never fully understand our loss, we are grateful to the neighbourhood for coming together and helping us through this trying time.”

Pictures taken at the scene after the tragedy revealed the depth of the fire’s damage, with several attics left uncovered and surrounding homes left completely burned.

In order to conduct investigations and ensure their own safety, a few neighbours had to have their houses evacuated. Following the fire, police opened an investigation and asked anyone with knowledge to come forward.

In a statement, GMP further stated:

“Despite their best attempts, emergency services were called, but she tragically passed away at the site. The 42-year-old Sadia Shafiq was later identified as the woman.

“After the incident, her 15-year-old daughter was brought to the hospital and is still in critical condition.
