Woman dies following crash in Margate Road Police appeal

After a collision close to a retail complex, a woman has passed away.

Following the accident yesterday at around 1.50 pm, Margate Road in Broadstairs was closed for a number of hours.

The bronze Toyota Yaris and the white Ford Fiesta she was riding in went into collision as they drove approached the Westwood Roundabout.

The 80-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a man in his 90s, and the driver of the Toyota Yaris received medical attention for minor injuries.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage, to call the appeal line if they have not yet spoken to the police.

Heartbreak as town’s florist shuts after 60 years

Margate Road closed while police were at the scene but reopened overnight.

Police and fire crews joined paramedics at the scene and the air ambulance was spotted landing nearby.

The fire service confirmed it was called at 1.55pm “to assist other emergency services”, with two fire engines sent to the crash site.

Witnesses reported seeing a “significant” crash at the scene on Margate Road near Westwood Cross in Broadstairs.
