An inquest revealed that a man died after being crushed by the Land Rover he was working on.
Russell Powell, 61, was changing a prop shaft on the vehicle at the Wem Industrial Estate near Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
Mr Powell’s wife left their home in Wem to look for him when he failed to return home, and found him under the truck.
Mr Powell’s death was caused by the 4×4 crushing his lungs and chest, leaving him unable to breathe.
Shrewsbury Coroner’s Court heard that Mr Powell began working on the automobile at 16:30 GMT.
He had positioned the car on a ramp to gain access to the prop shaft beneath it.
Mrs Powell arrived at the unit around 23:35 GMT and saw her husband underneath the car, which was no longer on the ramp.
Shortly after midnight, emergency services responded and verified Mr Powell’s death.
John Ellery, the coroner at Shirehall, ruled that the death was unintentional.
