The Club is happy to announce that Gus Scott-Morriss, the 2023–24 Supporters’ Player of the Season, has agreed to a new deal that will keep him at Roots Hall through June 2026.
After joining the Blues in the summer of 2022, Scott-Morriss instantly won over the fans with his dynamic displays along the right side.
In his 35 games during his debut season with the Club, the explosive wing-back scored five goals in the league. He added eight more goals the next season.
In 2023–2024, the 27-year-old was virtually in every game—he missed just four league contests. He even played goal against Bromley after David Martin had to be substituted due to injury.
With two caps for England C, Scott-Morriss has shown himself on the international front as well. He has now agreed to terms on a new contract to pledge his future to the Shrimpers.
Scott-Morriss declared, “I’m overjoyed. It’s been in the works for a few months now, and I’m just so relieved that it’s finished and that everyone has organised their belongings. I can’t wait to get started. I’m making a commitment to a place that is growing and will only get better from here.
All we can hope for is to be right in the mix if we can duplicate last season’s success and add a few more elements. Although it won’t happen immediately, we wish to end this division.”
