A guy died after a firearm was discharged in Luton yesterday.

Officers were investigating a firearm discharge in Sundon Park Road earlier on Friday when they arrived at an address in St Kilda Road about 8.55pm.

Before officers entered the house, a handgun was discharged, injuring a man in his 30s.

Officers provided quick first assistance, but the victim was pronounced deceased at the spot.

At this point, police are not looking for anyone else involved in either incident.

Superintendent Hob Hoque of Bedfordshire Police stated, “First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family of the man who died at this tragic time.”

“We realise the impact that a tragedy like this can have not just on loved ones, but also on the larger community. The family is being helped by expert officers, and we encourage the public to respect their right to privacy and avoid speculation during this difficult time.

“A higher police presence will be in place over the coming days to carry out further investigative work and reassure the public.”

The incident has been reported to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) in accordance with regular protocol.

Anyone with information on either incident is encouraged to contact police at 101 or online, quoting Operation Cetus.
