The driver of the Fiesta, a 36-year-old man, was arrested in connection with road traffic offences and was later released pending further enquiries.
A woman has tragically died after being struck by a car in the Bellshill area yesterday evening.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Crossgates in Bellshill at around 9.30pm on Friday (November 1) following reports of a crash involving a silver Ford Fiesta and female pedestrian.
Despite efforts, the 41-year-old woman was pronounced dead a short time later.
The driver of the Fiesta, a 36-year-old man, was arrested in connection with road traffic offences and was later released pending further enquiries.
The road was closed and re-opened at around 4am on Saturday, November 2.
Road policing officers are now appealing for information and ask any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to get in touch.
Sergeant Andrew Coutts said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“We are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch. If you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then please contact us.”
