Police open an inquiry following the South Yorkshire collision tragedy, in which a man died on the scene.
A man has died following a tragic incident on a busy South Yorkshire route.
South Yorkshire Police were called to the area after a Seat Exeo collided with a wall late Saturday night.
Unfortunately, the 23-year-old driver of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
Sound Yorkshire Police issued a statement today stating that they are investigating the cause of the incident and have launched an appeal for information.
The statement read: “We are seeking for witnesses and information following a fatal collision in Rotherham’s Swinton area.
“According to reports, a grey Seat Exeo collided with a wall on Racecourse Road near the intersection with Church Street and Rockingham Road.
“The driver of the Seat, a 23-year-old guy, was tragically killed at the site. His family has been informed and is being assisted by specialist officers.”
Before the deadly tragedy, officers suspect the Seat was in a minor collision with another car on Warren Vale.
“On Saturday, at 11.35 p.m., officers were dispatched to Racecourse Road in Swinton in response to complaints of a single vehicle road traffic collision.
They are urging anyone who witnessed the deadly collision or a previous collision, as well as any motorists who were in the area at the time, to come forward with information or dashcam footage.
