After an incident closed the eastbound A14 near Thraspton, drivers have been advised to avoid the area.
A collision has caused the eastbound carriageway to close at Junctions 13 (the A45 turn) and 16 (Kimbolton).
Following the Islip intersection, traffic has been backing up, with heavy traffic on the adjacent highways, such as the A605 that leads to Oundle and Peterborough.
“We were called at 6.40am today (October 14) with reports of a collision involving ten vehicles on the eastbound carriageway of the A14 near Bythorn,” a Cambridgeshire Police spokeswoman stated.
There have been no reports of significant injuries. As a precaution, one of the drivers was brought to the hospital.
“While the vehicles were being recovered, the road was closed.”
According to National Highways, there has been a collision that has closed the eastbound A14 in Cambridgeshire between Junction 13 (Rushden) and Junction 16 (Kimbolton).
“The Cambridgeshire Police are there. Approaching the closure and diversion routes is probably going to cause delays.
In order to re-join the A14 at J21 (Brampton Hut interchange), eastbound drivers are recommended to follow the hollow diamond diversion symbol, exiting at J13 and taking the first exit off the roundabout onto the A605 northward to the A1(M) Junction 17.
