According to police, a man convicted of sexually abusing children some time ago “manipulated” his victims.
In Fitkin Court, Redhouse, Swindon, Stephen Burrows, 47, also known as Marc, was found guilty of several child sex offenses between 2001 and 2012, including two counts of sexual assault against a minor.
Wiltshire Police praised the victims’ bravery and demeanor throughout the trial.
Burrows was remanded in custody pending his sentencing on September 27 after being found guilty at Swindon Crown Court on Thursday.
‘Courage of victims’
In addition, he was found guilty of forcing a minor to participate in sexual activity, indecent assault, and assault by penetration.
Burrows had exploited the victims “for his own sexual gratification,” according to Det Sgt Chris Hughes.
He continued, “As adults, years after the abuse had stopped, they found the courage to tell the police what had happened to them.”
“The harm Burrow has caused cannot be undone by his conviction, but I hope they can start moving forward.”
Wiltshire Police advised anyone who wished to report child sexual abuse to come forward, even if it was years after the incident.
Reports are handled by specially trained officers who are accustomed to handling delicate cases, according to Det Sgt Hughes.
