A male pedestrian died on the A30 London Road after a collision with a car
According to Surrey Police, they reported themselves to the watchdog following a man’s death in a Camberley collision with an automobile. The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. on the A30 London Road.
The thirty-something man who was walking died there. According to a police spokesman, the driver of the halted automobile provided complete assistance with police enquiries and no arrests were made.
Due to information it received in the hour prior to the crash “relating to a man walking in and out of the carriageway,” the force has submitted the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
This indicates that the occurrence needs to be reported to the watchdog because it is being handled as a “death following police contact.” The police praised those who had already come forward with information, but they are now in need of “more specific” details regarding the pedestrian’s movements before the crash.
“Were you on London Road in Camberley between the High Street and Lower Charles Street between 9.50pm and 10pm? Did you see a White man walking in the area at this time? He was wearing a light grey top, blue jeans, and white trainers,” a police representative added.
“We are also interested in tracing the movements of a black Skoda Fabia in the area between 9.50pm and 10pm.” The road was closed until around four in the morning the next day as South East Coast Ambulance Service responded to the situation.
People who have CCTV or dash cam or helmet cam footage which may have captured the incident, or even parts of it, can submit it to Surrey Police via its website, quoting PR/45240097245. If you do not wish to speak to police, you can call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
