Shocking Road Crash: Four victims fighting for lives at hospital after horror accident

By Richard Jul17,2024 #Bolton' #St Helens

Following a collision on Bolton’s St Helens Road this evening, four individuals were hospitalised.

At the two-car collision, more than twenty emergency reaction vehicles were on the scene.

The fire department’s specialised technical rescue team had to cut one passenger out of one of the automobiles, which appeared to be seriously damaged.

“Firefighters were called to reports of a crash on St Helens Road in Bolton at around 7pm this evening (Saturday, June 22),” a Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) spokeswoman stated.

“The scene, which involved two vehicles, was swiftly attended to by two fire engines from the fire stations in Hindley and Farnworth.

“One victim was cut free from their car by firefighters.

Before the fire department arrived, three more victims had self-rescued; they were then sent to the hospital by North West Ambulance Service.

“Crew members are still on site.”

The route was blocked off and emergency vehicles, including fire engines, police cars, ambulances, and air ambulances, were hurried to the scene.

The incident took place not far from Asda.

As emergency services were being called, cars parked in the Asda parking lot were unable to exit.

After becoming trapped in the cordon, one bus was eventually freed.

A witness claims to have seen someone being cut out of an automobile.

“A man is being cut out of a car with the tech rescue crew,” he declared.

It’s been called a ‘lifesaving’ operation by a fireman.

“There are so many emergency vehicles her now.

“It really is a shocking incident.”

An off-licence adjacent claimed to have heard it while inside their own establishment.

“We didn’t see it as we were inside,” the company owner remarked.

“However, we heard it. We are saddened by what we have witnessed, but not shocked that it has occurred here. It is just terrible.

Accidents happen frequently, but I’d rather not know why.

“It’s clear how terrible this was, and someone could have suffered severe injuries.

“We are just hoping everyone is okay, but we will see now.”

The road came to a halt and many passengers were made to wait while those who witnessed the collision assisted in directing traffic.

An Asda customer stated: “They stopped traffic and trapped the bus.”

“No one was allowed to leave the Asda parking lot and go anyplace.

“I’ve never seen so many emergency vehicles in one location, so it’s clear that this collision is really serious.

“I hope everyone is doing well today; that is my hope for everyone concerned.

“I can’t see too much from here but it is gut-wrenching isn’t it, when you see things like this?”

We’ve reached out to Greater Manchester Police for a response.
