This morning, Friday, August 30, M5 traffic is delayed by more than 1 hour due to a vehicle that crashed off the road. Traffic is backed up for approximately three miles on the southbound carriageway between the Thornbury/Falfield exit and the M4 exit for Almondsbury Interchange.
The incident was first reported on traffic monitoring site Inrix shortly before 8 a.m., with the report stating: “All traffic is temporarily held and stationary due to an accident on M5 southbound from J14 B4509 (Thornbury/Falfield) to J15 M4 J20 (Almondsbury Interchange).” According to cameras, traffic has been held since roughly 07.45 a.m.”
The incident was also recorded on AA Traffic News, which indicated delays of more than 45 minutes: “Severe delays of 46 minutes and increasing on M5 southbound between J14 B4509 (Thornbury / Falfield) and J15 M4 J20 (Almondsbury Interchange).” Average speed: five mph.”
