We are receiving reports of a serious crash in Newcastle centre.
The Great North Road is closed in both directions following a crash on Blue House roundabout.
The incident was reported at 4am.
A representative for the AA stated: “Road closed due to serious crash on B1318 Great North Road both ways from Forsyth Road to A189 Jesmond Dene Road (Blue House roundabout).”
“There is currently a road closure on Great North Road in Jesmond due to a collision,” a Northumbria Police spokesperson stated.
“Until mid-morning, there is expected to be a closure on the B1318 in both directions from the Blue House Roundabout to the 167M Central Motorway.
“We’ll keep you updated when it reopens.”
