Sadness as son dies in a tragic accident

A mother has spoken of her “beautiful, friendly, and kind” son who tragically died in a collision on Fairfield Road, Broadstairs, last Sunday (July 21).

Louey Davey, 26, of Broadstairs, was crossing when he slumped and was struck by a passing vehicle.

His distraught mother, Ellen Hendrick, said: “Louey was gorgeous, charming, compassionate, and would help anyone, despite his own mental health issues. He suffered for a long time, yet he was always there for others and placed them ahead of himself.

“I have got so much solace from my beautiful friends and from my lovely friend Matt who is fundraising to help with the funeral, although it won’t be a funeral, it will be a celebration of his life.”

Louey, a former Charles Dickens student, enjoyed video games, animals, and many types of music. He’d also attempted motocross with his father.

According to Ellen: “He just loved being with people and laughing, he was amazing when he laughed.”

Ellen went to the scene when the accident occurred. Louey was brought to QEQM Hospital before being transferred to King’s College Hospital in London, but he died.

Ellen stated: “They (medical staff) were all amazing, and everyone at the hospital was fantastic, but his injuries were too severe.”

“When I hurried up to Fairfield Road and spotted him, I knew he had already left.

“It was just a horrible accident and I feel for the poor guy who was driving the car.”

Louey was an organ donor, and four organs were matched, one of which went to a child.

Ellen remarked, “He had four positive matches, which they thought is unusual. One is for a child, thus Louey is still giving life despite this accident, and I am so proud of him.

Matt Day, a family friend, has set up a campaign to help Louey’s family with funeral expenses.

Matt stated, “He was the sweetest soul. He had the heart of an angel, and whether you were happy or unhappy, Louey would accommodate you and simply be there for you.

“He has donated four organs and that is something we can take comfort in.”

Police are still investigating the crash. The automobile came to a stop at the location.

Witnesses are asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at 01622 798538 or email sciu.td@kent.police.uk, referencing reference XX/DH/080/24. Dash camera footage can be
