Associated works began with work set to continue into late November
Residents in Huntington and the neighbouring communities may have to deal with more road construction this week. The construction is related to Severn Trent’s £16 million ‘Chester Resilience’ pipeline project, which connects the water treatment facilities at Huntington and Boughton.
Road closures were in place for the majority of the associated work, which started and is expected to last until late November. Chester Road and Sandy Lane, which connect the hamlet and the city, were among the routes that will be closed.
As part of the Severn Trent works, Chester Road will be completely closed from the Deewater Grange Care Home to the Huntington Village Green shops. Access for cyclists and pedestrians will continue.
It is anticipated that this portion of Chester Road won’t return until May 3 after closing on April 11. Severn Trent then states that there will be a closure from the shops to Woodlands Road from May 3 to May 17.
Huntington Parish Council advises residents wishing to access the shops to drive down Caldy Valley Rd, turn left onto Chester Rd and then drive South towards the shops while the current closure is in place.
A bus diversion is in place, with stops at the village green currently out of use and a diversion is in place for the number 5 bus (Chester Interchange to Wrexham). The top end of Butterbache Road is also closed.
The Parish Council said this had been done “to prevent Butterbache road becoming an unofficial diversion which is not suitable on a residential street with a school and playground.” Access has been maintained to the two Meadow Lanes adjacent to Jubilee Field.
According to maps issued by Severn Trent, Brassey Street in Boughton will remain closed until May 5 after closing April 9.
