Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe has signed two players during the summer transfer window. The club is actively seeking to expand its roster.
So far, the Lilywhites have only completed two additions during the summer transfer season, both of which are midfielders. There is still a month to play, with the Championship season’s first game just nine days away.
Preston’s most recent signing was Stefan Thordarson, who joined on July 9. Since then, wide signings have been the first priority, with a centre-back also on the list. The Deepdale outfit has not yet expanded its operation, but Lowe is confident that the essential transactions will be completed.
“Peter (Ridsdale) is on with a few things,” Lowe told the Lancashire Post. “He is working extremely hard.” We are, and listen, there are a lot of things that happen and aspects that go into it, such as you being disappointed with this or the price going up somewhat with that.
“But I trust Peter and James (Wallace), because they communicate on a daily basis. When we’re not together, Peter and I talk on the phone all the time. We’ll be back at work tomorrow to try to improve on what we currently have.”
Director Peter Ridsdale expected four or five additions over the summer. The Lilywhites have a vital few weeks ahead of them, and Lowe fully expects to see more new faces in the building.
“Yeah, we expect to (add),” Lowe replied. “We have room for whatever we desire. I’m not sure if there’s any buzz out there suggesting we should do this or that, because I don’t pay attention to it. But we know exactly what we need. It’s not that complicated. We’re moving forward, and Peter’s working hard, but ultimately, we’re going straight down the line.
“We are straightforward and honest, but we’ve discovered one or two folks along the way who are not. So, we have to be cautious of that if we are led down the path of ‘this can happen’ and then told otherwise. We just need to go find people who want to play for and represent PNE.
