Police are warning vehicles to ‘avoid the area’ after a lorry collided with a bridge on one of Stoke-on-Trent’s busiest roads. The lorry collided with the Stoke Road Bridge in Stoke at 8.30 a.m. today.
It comes as the A5006 Stoke Road, between Station Road and Vernon Road, remains closed until the early afternoon. It is not yet known when the bridge will reopen.
A police spokeswoman said: “We were alerted to reports of a lorry becoming stuck after colliding with a barrier and a bridge on Stoke Road. Officers responded and closed section of the road. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to assist us with our investigations.
The automobile is waiting to be recovered. We advise motorists to avoid the area if possible and seek alternative routes.”
