Person suffering in hospital with life threatening injuries following a catastrophic car collision on major Timperley road

It happened approximately 3:30 p.m. today.

A police officer was sent to hospital after his car crashed with a wall in Timperley this afternoon.

Greater Manchester Police said the incident happened at 3.30pm while officers were responding on blue lights to a ‘Grade 1 priority’ request.

According to a police statement, an automobile swerved in front of the police vehicle, prompting it to take evasive action to avoid colliding with pedestrians.

Images from the incident showed the police cruiser driving straight through a brick wall surrounding Arthur Gresty Funeral Homes on the crossroads of Manchester Road and De Quincey Road in West Timperley.

The automobile, which also struck the firm’s sign, had considerable damage to its bonnet and appears to have collided with a blue van parked in the funeral services firm’s parking lot.

According to police, an officer was taken to the hospital for additional treatment, although his injuries “are not believed to be life threatening or life changing”.

The complete statement read: “At 3:30pm today, police were responding to a Grade 1 priority call on blue lights on Manchester Road in West Timperley.

“It is thought that an automobile swerved in front of the police vehicle. The police cruiser attempted evasive effort to avoid colliding with any members of the public, resulting in a collision with the wall.

“An officer has been taken to hospital for further treatment but thankfully his injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life changing.”
