On the Hampshire railway line, there has been a death. At 9.11 a.m. on Friday, emergency services responded to a call of an incident.
Following reports of an injury on the tracks, British Transport Police officers were called to the line near Fleet. Paramedics tried their best, but the patient was declared dead at the scene.
Investigators are trying to identify the person and determine how and why they died. Hampshire’s rail services had delays all morning long as a result of the incident.
There were delays on the SWR route between Basingstoke and Woking; tickets were accepted on the bus service instead. Additionally, all trains to Fleet were cancelled, forcing passengers to change at Basingstoke.
“Officers were called to the queue in Fleet at 9.11am following reports of a casualty on the tracks,” the British Transport Police said in a statement. Sadly, a person was declared deceased at the spot despite the fact that paramedics were also called. The person’s identity and the complete circumstances surrounding their death are being investigated by the officers.
