A van driver has been detained after a cyclist died in an accident on a remote route.
North Yorkshire Police said the incident occurred on the B6165 near Harrogate, near Burnt Yates, at around 18:10 BST on Tuesday.
It was suspected that a blue Ford Transit van and a pedal bike collided while travelling westbound.
A local guy in his 60s was transported to Leeds General Infirmary, but he was pronounced dead.
The van driver, a local man in his 30s, was arrested and later released under investigation.
Police closed the route for several hours to allow for forensic investigations to be conducted.
They asked anyone with pertinent CCTV or dashcam evidence to come forward.
