The driver and three pedestrians were brought to the hospital, and the fourth died on the scene.
A man was killed and three others injured after a car collided with four pedestrians in south London.
At 12.15pm, there was an accident on the A24 Merantun Way in Colliers Wood, Merton.
Despite the efforts of responding officers and paramedics, one of the pedestrians, a 49-year-old man, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Three additional pedestrians were transported to hospital, where their condition was deemed non-life-threatening, Met Police said on Monday.
The driver stopped at the scene and was brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Photos released on X by the Merton Cycling Campaign appeared to show a dark BMW SUV at a pedestrian crossing. A police tent was also seen at the scene.
The crash is believed to have occurred at a pedestrian crossing where the Wandle Trail, a famous walk along the River Wandle, intersects the A24.
The traffic crossing is next to a roundabout.
“Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of the collision,” stated a Met spokesperson.
“The investigation is led by officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Merton.”
There have been no arrests made.
