Grimsby maternity workers have walked out in protest over unpaid back wages.
The union, Unison, said that negotiations with their employer, Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, broke down, leading to the 48-hour strike.
The healthcare assistants, who were promoted from band two to band three, are seeking compensation for the time they spent working at a lower pay grade.
The trust expressed its desire to work with the union to “find a mutually satisfactory resolution.”
According to Unison, the staff at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, had been paid as band two employees for several years, despite performing the clinical duties of band three workers.

Strike action is “always a last resort,” according to union regional organizer Ashley Harper, who also urged senior managers to “sit down with us again as soon as possible with an improved offer.”
“Our top priority remains the safety of the expectant parents and babies in our care, and we have strong plans in place to maintain a safe service,” a trust spokesperson stated.
Picket lines are scheduled to be set up at the hospital’s Scartho Road entrance between 06:30 and 08:00 BST and again between 18:30 on Tuesday, when the strike is scheduled to continue.
