Manslaughter by gross carelessness with arrest following death at Stockton Industrial Estate

On Wednesday, a man fell from a height at a location on Blue House Point Road, which is connected to Portrack Grange Road in Stockton.
A 53-year-old has been taken into custody on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter after a man at an industrial estate died from a fall.

Police verified the arrest of a 53-year-old man in a force update on Friday. “Police were alerted to allegations of an industrial accident involving a man falling from height at Blue House Point Road, on Portrack Grange Road, in Stockton, just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, according to a spokesperson.

“His family has been notified that the individual tragically passed away at the spot. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and officers are collaborating to determine the complete circumstances surrounding the event.

On Friday 4 October a 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter and is currently in police custody.”

Attending was the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS). According to a spokesman, they asked the air ambulance for assistance.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service released the following statement: “At 3:11 p.m., our team was called in in response to reports of a fall at Portrack Industrial Estate. On board our flight were a physician and a paramedic. At 3:18% pm, we arrived on the site. Teams treated a patient while collaborating with the North East Ambulance Service.
