A man has been detained following the death of a lady in a crash near an industrial area in East Sussex.
At around 00:20 BST on Thursday, emergency services were dispatched to Davigdor Road in Hove in response to a report of a person being hit by a car.
A woman in her 40s was pronounced deceased on the scene, and her next of kin has been notified, police said.
A 28-year-old Brighton man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death via reckless driving and driving a vehicle without insurance or a driver’s license.
He has now been released on bail as investigations continue.
Davigdor Road has reopened after an earlier closure.
