Man killed tragically in a terrifying fatal collision, police continue to appeal for witnesses

A man has died following a collision that forced the closure of a key route in Sussex going to the shore.
According to Sussex Police, the single-vehicle incident occurred on the A23 near Bolney at approximately 22:10 BST on Saturday.
A 25-year-old guy was treated by medical staff at the scene but died shortly thereafter, according to police. His family has been informed.

Three other men, all aged 25 and from London, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death through unsafe driving.

Both carriageways, between the M23 junction 11 at Crawley and the A272 at Bolney, were shut after the incident.

The coastbound carriageway was closed for more than 12 hours before it reopened at 11:00 on Sunday.

Lengthy delays formed as holidaymakers attempted to reach the coast on another hot day.

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service had urged drivers to avoid the area.

Fire crews from Burgess Hill, Crawley and Horsham attended.

Sussex Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward.
