The inquest into the death of a man who was tragically died in a collision in a village in Essex has opened. In June of this year, there was an accident on Beaumont’s Harwich Road, close to Clacton-on-Sea, involving Benjamin Nicholls.

Around 12:45 p.m. on June 6, emergency personnel were dispatched to Harwich Road in response to reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a car. Mr. Nicholls, 46, was attended to and treated by paramedics at the site; regrettably, they were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead.

An inquest into his death was opened at Essex Coroners Court this morning (October 8). Area Coroner Michelle Brown said: “Benjamin Nicholls was from Harwich. He died on the sixth of June, 2024 in Harwich Road near Clacton.

“He was riding a motorbike on that road and it appears he’s gone into the opposite carriageway to overtake a vehilce and has collided with a vehicle in the opposite direction.

“At 13.13 his death was confirmed. The death is not being treated as suspicious. A post-mortem was carried out and a provisional cause of death was given as 1A multiple traumatic injuries. This is likely to be a documentary inquest [at a later date].”
