Police are urging witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
A man has died following a major crash on the A2 near Rochester. Emergency services, including Kent Police officers and paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb), were summoned to the area at 2.30 a.m. today.
A black VW Tiguan was driving along the coast-bound lane, near the slip road for the A289 towards Wainscott, when it collided with the central reservation barrier and a bridge parapet. A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Patrols and Secamb responded to the scene, where the driver, a 29-year-old man, was declared dead. His nearest of kin have been notified.
Following the crash, a traffic closure was implemented in both directions on the A2 at its connection with the M2 while responders worked. Throughout the morning, there was heavy traffic and considerable delays on the A2 and M2.
