The Winchester Police Department is investigating a crash that killed a 21-year-old Berryville man on Tuesday.
Edwin Herrera was riding a motorbike at Adams Drive and Pleasant Valley Road around 5:30 p.m. when he collided with a car and was thrown off the bike, according to a department news release.
Police officers and Winchester Fire & Rescue officials tried emergency life-saving techniques on Herrera, but he was pronounced dead at the site.
“The safety and well-being of our community remain a top priority for WPD, and drivers are urged to exercise caution on the road,” police Capt. Sharee Karlinsey said in a statement.
Karlinsey told The Winchester Star that the crash is still under investigation and that police will provide more information as it becomes available.
According to the announcement, Virginia State Police supported the investigation by reconstructing the crash site.
